Free Lessons at World Music Nashville!

world-music-nashville

It’s drum lesson day! Yes, my now four year old son has been taking drum lessons for just about a month now at World Music Nashville and I cannot believe what they’ve taught him to do!

kyle-Britton-drum-school1kyle-Britton-drum-school2Kyle-Britton-3

Just a month ago my son would just bang on anything he could get his hands on. Now, not only does he know how to hold a stick properly, but he’s reading music, can discern between quarter, eighth & sixteenth notes and rests AND knows the names of the different types of drums…REALLY? All that from half an hour a week?

To be honest, I wouldn’t have thought it was possible. I was just hoping to get him an outlet for his love of music and maybe work on his counting and his rhythm, but alas, here we are. Music prodigy in the making.

I wonder if I should start booking his European tour or North American first?

Anyway, it’s not too late for you or your child to have this same experience for FREE! World Music Nashville is still offering eCONEmic Living readers one FREE music lesson with this coupon. They’re located at the corner of Old Hickory Road and Hwy 70S in Bellevue, so it couldn’t be easier to get to. I cannot recommend strongly enough how talented their teachers are and how much it’s enhanced my son’s joy and confidence.

Have you had your free lesson yet? Leave a post below when you do and let me know what you think!

Oscar Mayer Wienermobile coming soon!

oscar_meyer_wienermobileThe Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be at Kroger on Hwy 100 in Bellevue, TN on Wednesday, March 3rd from 2-4 pm!

To be honest, I didn’t know that this vehicle really existed outside of tv land! But alas, I was wrong!

It turns out that the actual Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be making an appearance at the Kroger at the corner of Old Hickory Blvd and Hwy 70S in Bellevue about this time tomorrow. I’m not really sure what happens when the Wienermobile comes to town, but I can tell you that I’ll be taking my kids to find out! (If nothing else, a photo should make a great conversation piece for this blog!)

Normally I’m here posting “Kids eat Free” offers, but today I’m excited to tell you about a “Kids Ski Free” offer!

From now through March 11, children ski free in Crested Butte. According to OntheSnow.com, the deal is good for any accompanying children ages 12 and under who are with an adult who has made a reservation at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. The offer includes one free child’s lift ticket per day of adult lift tickets purchased. Minimum three night stay.

Kids at Crested Butte also get their own trail map with details about kids-only trails, the Kids’ Terrain Park, and a jib park designed for aspiring freeskiers and riders. The Kids Ski Free offers are only available through Crested Butte Vacations: 800-600-2803.

You can also inquire about the Friends & Family Fly Free program at Crested Butte which lasts through April 4. Book a vacation through Crested Butte Vacations for three or more people and every third airline ticket is free.

After watching the Olympics the past two seeks, I can’t think of a better, more reasonable spring break for your family!

Supernanny casting in Nashville

supernanny

The casting team of Supernanny will be coming to Nashville in a couple weeks to look for families they think will be a good fit for season 6 of the show.

Though I personally can’t quite understand why anyone would want to allow camera crews to come in and film their children at their worst, far be it from me to prevent you from having the opportunity :)

Instead of a public casting call, families who want to be on the show should contact Casting Producer Johnny Beechler at cast4shows@yahoo.com or at 614-668-5700. If they like you, you’ll be contacted for an at home interview on camera, including the kids in their home environment, in order to create a mini-presentation to present to Supernanny Jo Frost. Good luck…I think.

Women’s Wellness Weekend & Healthy Couponing

womens-wellness-weekend-logoTruth be told, if given the choice, all of us would choose health over sickness. Duh! So why don’t we put more energy into getting healthy?

I know, I know. You don’t have the time and you certainly don’t have the money to buy the right food and equipment. Well throw your excuses out the window! Calie over at Broccoli Cupcake is presenting TN’s first Women’s Wellness Weekend to create venues and opportunities to inspire and educate women to build a healthier life by positively changing their lifestyle. The event takes place THIS WEEKEND in Franklin, TN and I can’t think of a better way to kick off making your healthy lifestyle a priority!

In dialoguing with Calie, we also realized that so many people that try to eat healthy don’t coupon because they believe there are no coupons for the foods they feed their family. In an effort to debunk that myth, I just wrote a guest post over on Broccoli Cupcake: 4 Tips to Jumpstart Healthy Couponing

Tip #1: Start by Saving money on non-food items

Winter Jam Tour 2010

Winterjam-posterIf you’re looking for an incredible night out at an affordable price with some of today’s top Christian musicians, they look no further! Winter Jam 2010 is here!

Though the tour just made it’s stop in Nashville this past weekend, you can click here to check out where the tour is headed next. The best part is, tickets are just $10 at the door!

Ok, so I’m a bit biased. I remember when most of these guys were leading worship for out college group at Christ Fellowship church in south Florida. They are amazing guys with a passion for pursuing Christ through their music.

I also think it’s interesting that the question I get asked most on my family blog is “Why did Drew Middleton leave Tenth Avenue North?” Though I’ve known him for years, I never really stopped to ask him that question until recently. So if you want to find out for yourself, you can read the full article here.
